College Staff & Students Compete in Weightlifting Competition

The International College of Martial Arts hosts the Gold Coast Weightlifting club and many of our staff and students are keen weightlifters. The club fielded three competitors in the Cougars Weightlifting Club's Mike Keelan Shield competition on December 15th. The three competitors were all first timers and acquitted themselves well.

James Martin came 3rd in the open mens 62kg with a total of 99kg (a bit lower than his PB due to a hand injury). Brodie Manning competed in the open mens 69kg and ifted a total of 115kg. Brodie is now in the ICMA '100 club'. John Trebilco came 3rd in the open male 92kg with a total of 147kg.

All three competitors did well but failed on a couple of lifts due to competition inexperience and a lack of understanding of the rules. More to work on for the next competition.

The official QWA results are here.
