ICMA Karate Dojo Students Achieve Recognition
Students from the International College of Martial Arts Karate dojo recently achieved recognition for their efforts and passed their belt tests to advance to the next stages of the curriculum.
Kyu grades were tested on Wednesday the 28th of May. Congratulations to:
· Nigel Casey (Black Bar)
· Jamie Robertson (Brown Belt)
· Sean Grey (Yellow Blet)
· James Broadbelt. (Yellow Belt)
· Ana Paula Contin (Yellow Belt)
· Decio Parisi Filho (Yellow Belt)
· Camila Contin (Yellow Belt)
The grading was a test of their knowledge, skill and endurance and took approximately 2 hours. Well done to all concerned.
Dan grade testing was conducted on Saturday the 31st of May. Two ICMA staff members, Sempai Brooke Wagstaff and Sempai Rhys Phillips graded for their Shodan (full First Degree Black Belt). Both showed the technical ability we expect of a black belt from this school.
Congratulations to Sempai Cara Johnson (from front office admin) and to Brodie Manning for passing the gruelling Nidan Marathon. The two of them are probably the fittest they have ever been in their lives and the grading was still very tough. Whilst 30 rounds doesn’t sound like much (!?), the physical and psychological stress of the grading makes it very, very tough. Well done to the both of them.
We had some much appreciated assistance for the sparring from a number of members of this dojo but special thanks to Sensei Karl Ponsonby from Ballarat, Victoria for coming up to assist. Also thanks to Kaicho Geordie and Sensei Jess from Black Dragon Kai, and to Sempai Ben and Stefan from the Gold Coast Kyokushin dojo for their assistance.
